A Transcendentalist is someone that has faith in him or herself and believes that being independent self-reliant allows them to grow. Instead of expecting things from others, they worry about themselves. Transcendentalists feel that institutions, organizations, society, etc. start to weaken the individual. Being a part of such groups not only has them worrying about themselves but also worrying about others. That can put more stress on people, which does not allow the person to evolve. Transcendentalists also believe that one’s own thoughts and the way they feel can answer more questions than science.
